The Power of the Ocean!

The WWII era U.S. aircraft carrier, USS Bennington, some period of time after meeting up with a BIG wave while at sea. That is what I call the power of the ocean! Photo is courtesy of my Dad, an officer of the U.S. Navy.

Amazing photo, don't you think?

Hi Dan,
Thanks for your comment about Ho Chi Minh. Speaking as someone with two generations of military in my family, I feel its important to understand history and why different countries go to war with each other. Sadly too many smaller countries, comprised mostly of non-whites have been exploited and slaughtered in the 20th century for resources by the US, France,;Germany, UK, Belgium, Holland, etc ,why should they not fight back? Should they not have the choice of which system they want to live under? Like the democratically elected Allende government in Chile, was it right for this country to install Pinochet in a coup?.
Ho Chi Minh is not my hero but he is a complex and vital figure to history and not repeating it's mistakes. He was certainly more of an guiding force for his own people (and better educated) than President George W. Bush who does not really seem to know what he's doing in Iraq.
I see all the world leaders in more or less the same type of place . What is of outmost importance though is that I do see them.
Best wishes,
Amanda

Wow, makes you really wonder about the power of nature doesn't it? People vainly imagine they can control it.

An amazing photo yes, and absolutely a reminder of the power of the ocean.

On Iris, they bloom from bulbs, There's the bearded (think van gogh), the oriental, the spanish sunrise, and bookoos more, to appear every year in splendid abundance. They're hearty with the right amount of light and the right amount of shade (not in constant sun, yet I have seen a stretch of land ornamented in orientals.)

But now, I have snow now. Lots of it. The Iris are slumbering beneath and cozy I can only hope.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm glad the man said hello to you, but the last bit of his message is, at best, ambigous. And so he goes!

The wonder of it all.

Thanks for thinking about Boris , it means so much to me.
My brother and I are not close but I do hear about his life of being a Lt. Commander in the US Navy reserves in San Diego via mom's phone calls.
He's been to places like French Frigate Shoals, the 38th Parallel, Diego Garcia and other places that are amazingly unique. Maybe he's even run into your Dad?:) It would not surprise me. After blogging I've come to realize that the world is a much smaller and friendlier place then I ever dreamed-not just because the Pete is here being a bud(but that is still so awesome!!) but because people such as yourself are also taking the time to be very kind.
Have a great Sunday,
Amanda

This is the response on your blog....

A million thanks, Pete.
Love to see your picture. My family is all ga-ga.

I was taking my daughter to a Christmas parade...she is in one of the bands. I came home to a surprise.

Why not first, I? I tried! A small boat can beat that big thing?...you might know. I wanna see that boat.

We love you, Pete!
