Just back from the Sierra Nevada Range...in the High Sierras

At the great and amazingly peaceful Mt. Whitney Fish Hatchery (Monday, June 20, 2011) that nearly burned to the ground one day after I last was there three years ago. A year later it was devastated in a flood caused by the fire, and nearly lost forever. It is now nearly fully recovered, at least visually, if not functionally. Note the high peaks with snow in background....it was the last day of spring (yesterday), 2011.

"Click" on any the photos for a great picture.

Manzanar, WWII relocation center for Japanese in the U.S. during the war. This is the cemetery at the "top" of the "camp" location.

I was with one of my daughters, Michelle.

Outdoor dinner, Father's Day, 2011, center of Lone Pine, California, in the shadow (literally!) of Mt. Whitney, as you can see. We are on an East facing patio as the sun sets, but it is not nearly sunset really, as the high peaks shadow the valley very early from the Western setting sun. The beer is som local brew called "Mojave..... ??... something or other" I cannot recall.

I am having trouble loading videos. I will keep trying.

At Trailhead, Onion Valley.

Brought back a nearly five foot long walking stick for my wife....look...where is his body???....AAAAHHHHGG!!!
