Well, this is what the weekend on September 6th and 7th brought...

OK, OK, I actually did turn 51 years OLD on Saturday, Sept. 6th. I also suffered the night before by being showered with a party-BB-Q... (I BB-Q'd...me, Dan).

And now for the rest of the story...

It seems somebody knew I needed a new flag to fly (yes, a birthday gift)....and my wife, Cruz, with the grandboy, Jesse, fit in quite well with that!

Yep, it was about 100 degrees F. today, yep, it was the little boy in the little pool!

Yes, that is my front yard, that is my pleasure to share this moment on a Sunday afternoon, Sept. 7th.

I guess I jumped the gun regarding your birthday...
Nothing like being showered with all the fun and food you deserve on your day.
And I LOVE the flag!

I cannot imagine that heat at the moment!
It has been dipping close to freezing here, but our camping trip went without a hitch. It helps to be prepared for the cold!

What a peaceful scene in your front yard.
Was it that peaceful the previous evening?

Happy Birthday, Dan!

Hey Happy Birthday Dan! 51, you're still a youngster. We both should be youngsters till we are 60, then we will suddenly turn into drooling old farts. Till then, live it up!

The guitar is a nice one eh. She plays like a 6'er, the action nice n low with no fret buzz. I'm finding lots of songs to play with 12 string, like Rod Stewart "You Wear It Well" and Supertramp "Give a little bit". I think she's gonna come in real handy on the recordings for sure. I'm on top ramen for the next 2 months though.

Thanks for popping over to the blog to say hi.

Happy Belated Birthday Dan!

That pool looks refreshing, especially on a 100 degree day. Love the flag too!

Sorry Dan - it's been too long. Just as well I got in early with your birthday wishes - and many thanks for mine.

With Spring in the air (well, it was on Saturday, it's feral now), I can almost feel the heat of that 100 degrees and the delicious cold of the paddling pool. I have such lovely memories of playing in those as a child, and of running under the garden sprinklers to cool off. Of course then I grew up and made sure my own girls were able to enjoy those things too, just as Jesse is doing.

Sprinklers are banned here now under Stage 3 water restrictions; We are still in serious drought. Not sure what the official posish is on filling wading pools.

I hope you enjoyed suffering at your BBQ party, and had a great day on Saturday. I will be joining you in the fifties next year!

Hi Dan, it's good that you've now joined us, although Koos has gone on to the next phase! Great that you had a good day with the family. I love the photo. There's something slightly surreal about it, and rather peaceful too.

I too cannot imagine the 100 degrees. It;s getting steadily colder here now.

Enjoy your year Dan and I'll be back soon.xx

Hi Dan,
camping shower, yep, though, it kind of reminds me of the Tardis, have you ever watched the old Doctor Who episodes on BBC America? Stephani helped me sew velcro so the sides are nice and snug. One can actually sit in there and play and get a nice quiet sound.

Yeah, the harmonica shelf. Dad gave me a few really nice harmonicas a year or so ago, and I got a deal on a set of 6 in different keys on ebay. The most recent addition was a Hohner Echo harp, which has a interesting sound, it has octive notes, two octaves for each note on the scale, sounds like a 12 string guitar type harmonica. Really hard to pick out individual notes on that one though. I wish I could play harmonica well, it's so frustrating sometimes, trying to get the notes.

Hi Dan, hoping all's well on the 'ol blog buster. It's very quiet in blogland these days, and I miss the old lively posts that so many of us wrote. I hope it doesn't die completely as it's much more personal than some of these other pages, like MySpace and Facebook. I do those too, but my blog's my fave! Take care and keep up the special Dan posts! x
