those are great! who said a camera phone can't capture magic.
I like the fact that you never leave home without taking the 'Lipton plunge' with you!
really nice shots, and what a warm, sunny day to be enjoyed. I've never seen the desert but I suppose technically that I have now. thank you!

Hello Dan
I, too, am familiar with the different types of moraine, having lived in the mountains all these years.
Lateral moraine, left after the glaciers receded, is quite prevalent in our valley.
We call this lateral moraine along the edges of our valley "the benchlands".
Our lake is also quite blue, but it is not so directly affected by the glacial melt as some of the higher altitude bodies of water.
It "blues up" quite nicely during spring run-off - which has only barely begun here.
Geology was one of my favourite subjects in school. Thanks!
I remember a few years ago, while we were visiting Las Vegas, an earthquake at 6.something shook the city (not to mention our hotel!) & the epicenter was at Joshua Tree. That's where I first learned about this desert area.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dan!
Cool photos!
I love the desert!
I live in Costa Mesa so we're kinda sorta not-really neighbors.
